My Talking Car

With all the talk about media being on TV, in magazines, in books, etc, we also see that our cell phones are becoming carriers of media. Our cars have satellite radio and TV and voice-activated GPS tracking. Wireless technology is bringing media to places we've never dreamed about. Example--in this article from Wired, we learn about clothes that monitor your health.

Your task for this week is to use your imagination. I’ll give you two options: First, If you could integrate media into your clothes, how would you do it? Why? What benefit would it offer? Your second choice is a bit similar. Where else, other than in your clothes, would you like to see media available? I talked about a few ideas in class. Let your imagination run wild!

Remember (Garrick) that all entries must be posted by class time on Friday.

Media on your clothes may be good but it might pose some danger. In the future, people might be tracking other people just by the things on the shirt, pants or anywhere on the clothes. If you people read the Odyssey magazines, there's one magazine about clothes and what danger might they pose if you put media on them. If I had media anywhere else other than my clothes, I would have Wi-Fi anywhere on my clothes. It would be cool to talk and play with other people in the world on clothes. If possible, I would like to create a weapon such as an invisible energy sword accessible anywhere I walk to.

First, If you could integrate media into your clothes, how would you do it?
I would want to intergrate media in my shoes. The reason for that is so that when i start walking it plays some music or something, i think that would be really cool.

Why? What benefit would it offer?

Well if you think about it, you wouldn't have to carry anything in your own hands, plus it's way easier.

Your second choice is a bit similar. Where else, other than in your clothes, would you like to see media available? I talked about a few ideas in class. Let your imagination run wild!

  5. Jonathan L. says:

I would like a backpack that walks around for me and I can control it with a controller. So when my backpack is heavy, it can walk for me, instead of me carrying the backpack.

  6. Cheng Chi(Jonathan) C. says:

I would like to have media and electrical devices to be integrated biologically to our body and have basically a computer wired to our mind and the monitor are the retinas, which would make communication and have information travel faster.

  7. Suk Ho(Josh) C. says:

I would like to have like a Revolving Wall
where there is like a dining table on one side of the wall and when you press a button the wall revolves and has another kitchen appliance(or what ever you need) on the other side.

  8. Suk Ho(Josh) C. says:

Adding to mine up there ^ i can have like a computer on the wall and sneak play it and when my parens come i can press th4e button and have m desk with homework on it or sumthing

I would integrate a technology into my clothes that would tell me when to wear them for good reasons. For example, my T- shirt tells me to wear it today because I have a basketball game, and then my sweater tells me to wear it tomorrow because the weather is cold. The reason is because whenever I wake up, I'm always really sleepy and I always pick the clothes randomly to wear. Then, my mom always gets mad at me because I often pick the wrong clothes for the wrong weather and I have to change again. If my clothes can tell me when to wear them and have convincing reasons for my mom, life would become so much easier. I would also like to see media available on pencils. That way, I can pretend that I'm doing my homework and watch videos or something.

First, If you could integrate media into your clothes, how would you do it?
I guess the threads of the clothing would work. If it were skintight clothing, the threads could moniter your heart rate and body functions.
Why? What benefit would it offer?
Less bulky, over-priced health moniters. (I don't think I spelled moniter right...)
Your second choice is a bit similar. Where else, other than in your clothes, would you like to see media available? I talked about a few ideas in class. Let your imagination run wild!

Watches. The ones you wear on your wrist.

I want clothes that tell you when you should wear it because it may rain one day, and be 100 degrees on another. It can also tell me when to where on a special occasion. That will be a really cool media!

Your second choice is a bit similar. Where else, other than in your clothes, would you like to see media available? I talked about a few ideas in class. Let your imagination run wild!
Aww... I was going to say watches on your wrist.
Let's see. Maybe your bluetooth headphones?

Let your imagination run wild! ~ I think if there was a sort of TV screen on the sides of those huge 18 – wheeler trucks, I wouldn’t get as bored on freeway trips >3. Also, I saw on the internet how this owner of a condo wanted to put screens on windows or something so that it made a whole image... Kind of like when people hold up cards in a baseball game to make a message to the team they’re rooting for, but with changing images... If we could have those on a lot of buildings, that would be sooo cool! :-D

I think a mapping sort of device should be put into our clothes, because if we eve got lost or anything, it could tell us where to go, which would be so cool. The device should be somewhere around the shoulder area and it would benefit us because we wouldn't get lost so easily and we'd always know where to go. Also, the device should have radio and music playing capabilities.

Your second choice is a bit similar. Where else, other than in your clothes, would you like to see media available?

I also think there should be media of some sort in our palms, so whenever we looked at our palms, we could get the latest news and updates about the world.

I think a smart and talking shirt would be nice..haha, like if we were bored we could talk to it...If it was "smart" then we could calculate and estimate a lot faster. And with also built-in mapping locater..

Your second choice is a bit similar. Where else, other than in your clothes, would you like to see media available?
TV and Computer on our watches...but of course the watches have to be a little bit bigger I suppose..So anyway, it'll be more portable, not having to take laptops around.

  15. Calvin F. says:

First, If you could integrate media into your clothes, how would you do it? Why? What benefit would it offer?

I would have an ipod installed into my shoes that helps monitor my speed and heart rate. That way, I can listen to music and get some decent exercise the right way.

  16. Jonathan K. says:

I thought that has already been invented but I'm not sure.

I would probably put technology in my bedroom. I would want all of my walls to be projectors so that if I wanted to watch a movie, I could have it be all around me like I'm actually in that place at that time. I also would use it in the kitchen so that I could just say what I wanted and it would make it for me in under a minute. The last place I would put it is in my backyard. It would be out in the garden so that it could produce any ingredient that my kitchen would need to create me the perfect snack. That is where I would put technology.

  18. Sophia L. says:

If you could integrate media into your clothes, how would you do it? I would want to integrate media into the hood of a jacket. Then if you put on your hood, you could listen to music.
Why? What benefit would it offer? I would want media in my hood so you could listen to music without earphones or headphones. It's also convenient because all you had to do is put on your hood. Maybe you could control the music from another part of the jacket. :-D

  19. Laureen M. says:

First, If you could integrate media into your clothes, how would you do it? Why? What benefit would it offer?

I would install food/beverage holders in my jackets so I wouldn't have my hands full and then I could do more tasks and accomplish more things throughout the day while enjoying a snack or something.

First, If you could integrate media into your clothes, how would you do it? Why? What benefit would it offer?

I would have clothing that has temperature sensors in the fabric. These temperature sensors can measure the temperature of both the person wearing the clothes, and of the temperature of the environment. When the body temperature falls below 98.6, then an extremely lightweight (and thin) heater built into the clothing will warm the person up until his/her body temperature is normal. When the body temperature is too high, the clothing's buttons/zipper/accessories will flash in the desired color of the person, notifying him/her that they may be beginning to have a fever. When the ENVIRONMENT'S temperature is higher than the person's desired inputted high temperature, then the clothing becomes cooler. When the environment's temperature is colder than the desired lowed cold temperature, then the heater will again perform its job and warm the person up. I would do this so people wouldn't have to fuss about the warmth or thinness of their clothing too much, and so people wouldn't need to use the air conditioner / heater as often. This would offer the person convenience and extra comfort.
OH, and the clothing could be solar charged, so it saves energy and doesn't contribute to the process of global warming. Tehehe :-P

If you could integrate media into your clothes, how would you do it? Why? What benefit would it offer?

I would probably make the clothes that are built for outdoor adventures. I would somehow integrate a light source that isn't bulky. Also, I would make the threads in the clothes tighten or loosen on command. This way, if the temperature lowers down to low, it provides warmer clothes. It would also be able to filter water. I'd also make it have a GPS system, so if someone got lost, they would be able to find out where they were.

What'd be really cool would be a waterproof computer in the shower. You would be able to check email, stock, or PLAY COMPUTER in the shower! :-D Wouldn't that be the greatest? :-P

  24. Priscilla C. says:

If you could integrate media into your clothes, how would you do it? Why? What benefit would it offer?

I would have like a camera hidden on a jacket or shirt so that instead of taking notes in class, you can just tape it and watch it later.

Your second choice is a bit similar. Where else, other than in your clothes, would you like to see media available?

I would like to have something on a pencil box so that it's big enough to watch movies or videos in class without the teacher knowing.

  25. Thet H. says:

First, If you could integrate media into your clothes, how would you do it? Why? What benefit would it offer?

If I could integrate media into my clothes I would invent a watch that shows a mini 3D image of the news or a t.v show so I can keep myself entertained and I would always have it with me. The benefit that it would offer would be that I wouldn't always be so bored all the time. :-P

  26. Sergio G. says:

First, If you could integrate media into your clothes, how would you do it? Why? What benefit would it offer?

I would like to have a set of clothes that would help me increse my brain capacity! This would help people know what to do when faced by a hard decision.

  27. Mitchell P. says:

If I could have media in my clothes i would have a computer in my glasses. I imagine it having a tiny screen that drops down in front of your glasses and your desktop 'background' would be whatever you're looking at. To control it, you nod your head left right, forward, and back.

  28. Garrick K. says:

Um... if i could have media in my clothes,
it would be in my jacket hood. Whenever I put on my hood, music will play and everytime I take it off, the music will pause until I put up my hood again.

I would also put medis in my shoes. I could time how fast I run the mile and all the time, it would track me by GPS incase I ever get lost.

  36. Chen C. says:

What do you do, go to the liquor store and forget how many times you ran around the mile and start over?

  37. Jasmine W. says:

It's annoying when he runs to the liquor store RIGHT after school when we have after school practice and then later it's all crowded and he jumps over everyone... -.-xx

  38. Ha Eun(Grace) K. says:

Where would you put it on?
    --------------------------
I would intergrete it into my sleaves maybe or my pants. Becasue if you put it onto your shoes wouldnt that be unconfortable?

    BENEFITS!
    ----------
I think its a brilliant idea to do becasue then HOLDING new media you can wear them and it would be probably alittle heavier for you to wear but at school it would be easier to get away with XD

  39. Evelyn L. says:

First, If you could integrate media into your clothes, how would you do it? Why? What benefit would it offer?

I would intergrate music into my PE. clothes because when we run the mile. I would put miny speakers into the top part of the shirt.

    BENIFIT.
IT will help us run faster and keep us occupied.

  40. Andrew(Andy) C. says:

    I agree with Evelyn.
I would like to listen to my iPod during the miles, it would really help to have a iPod clipper that clips to my pants so I can listen to music while I excerise. Hopefully they are tight enough so they don't break.

  41. So Yun M. says:

First, If you could integrate media into your clothes, how would you do it? -(I want to put mp3 inside the cap.and if i want to listen only music, that can connect ears to set options)

Why? -(if i wear this cap, i don't have to wear earphone.i don't like to wear earphone)

What benefit would it offer? -( if i wear it, i can hear sound with music.also if you don't want to, you can set up.and ears not get hurt

  42. Sabrina R. says:

I would creat a dvd player in my jacket the have sunglasses that showed the movie. That means i wouldnt have to listen to boring teachers. cough cough Mr.Paz...JUST KIDDING! LOL.

  43. Ching Fung(Felix) C. says:

To me, I think media on clothes could be a good idea, but it also can pose some danger too! It's because people might be tracking others on clothes which has Wi-Fi on the clothes. But i also thinks it's a good idea because if i got kidnapped and no body knows where i am...the police can use the tedia to track me.
